Emotional Intelligence

What is Emotional Intelligence?

  • A set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.

Why is Emotional Intelligence important to the ICC?

  • Because it is an important predictor of human performance and development potential, it is proven to be a key indicator in these areas.

  • Emotional intelligence is also not a static factor - a person's emotional intelligence can change over time and can be developed in targeted areas.

What is EQ-i 2.0?

EQ-i2.0 is a tool that measures your Emotional Intelligence. It is not a test.

  • Assessing and evaluating an individual’s emotional intelligence can help establish the need for targeted development programs and measures.

  • This, in turn, can lead to dramatic increases in the person’s performance, interaction with others, and leadership potential.

The EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360 2.0 measure a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we:

  • perceive and express ourselves,

  • develop and maintain social relationships,

  • cope with challenges, and

  • use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.

The EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360 2.0 will allow the ICC to select and support our Match Officials, by predicting and monitoring:

  • how we perceive and express ourselves within the PCT,

  • how we develop and maintain social relationships with each other and our stakeholders,

  • how we cope with challenges, and

  • how we use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way in our roles, and in our lives.

This is a voluntary activity

  • Taking part in the EQ-I 2.0 measure is voluntary.

  • You do not have to take part.

  • We think it might be a useful tool for you to use and then discuss the outcomes with your coach.
